The Power Of Words: Who Said What To You?

The Power Of Words: Who Said What To You?

Words are very powerful. They possess both energy and power with the capability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble. Bearing in mind the powerful force of the words we say, one must restraint him or herself to speak in a way that conveys respect, gentleness and humility. Apart from this, it is imperative that one is mindful of the kind of words that are been said or spoken to you. Many today are suffering from a result or consequences of what they have allowed define their experiences through other people’s words.

Some are going about today ruminating on the negative words their parents have said over them, for some, it is the doctors report over their challenging health. Many have allowed these swelling words to define their lives and therefore, are finding it difficult to make headway in life. My challenge to you is, irrespective of who said what to you, those words don’t define you or who you truly are. An understanding of this important fact today will go along a way to break you free from that bondage of negative words over your life and destiny.

People say all manner of things out of ignorance. I have seen parents who rain curses on their children, bosses’ who badmouth their employees, teachers who abuse their students and friends who demoralize their fellow friends – all out of sheer ignorance. No matter what anyone had said over you, it doesn’t matter. There is a superior being – God, who has both the capacity and will to change what has been said, to your good. Even if it is a medical report that is based on several examinations and facts, God can still change it. All you need do is allow His own words to constantly fill your heart, and then see the amazing turnaround that your life would witness.

Jesus said, "The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life" (John 6:63). Speak His words; speak the Scriptures, because the word of God is life. God's words have life, they bring life, and it also has transformative capacity to change anything that has been hitherto impossible in your life. God has coded in His word everything that has to do with your life and destiny, and it is your responsibility to search them out, say them regularly to yourself and then believe them.

Another thing is this: you must also be mindful of the kind of words you say to people, because what you say one way or the other, has a way of coming back to you. In the words of Hyder Zahed. He said: “Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair.” If I were you, I will choose to use my words constructively. Let people see you as that individual whose words will give them some soothing reliefs to their sorrows and griefs, and not the other way round.

Finally, no matter the negativity that has been pronounced over you by ignorant folks, you have the capacity to change them and turn them around for your good. You can as well define your experience by the kind of words you speak to yourself. Through speaking the word of God to yourself and meditating on it, that negative doctor’s report can be changed, that curse you think it is the one affecting your destiny can be turned into a blessing. Your story can change, if you will just change what you believe in and say to yourself, it is as simple as that!

God bless you and have a wonderful day.
