My fascination with the United States of America election began in the year 2008 when for the first time in a long time, an African American showed interest to contest for the office of the President of the United States of America. This intention of Barack Obama (then as a contestant) caught the attention of the whole world; especially folks in the African continent, who prior to that time, had probably not being following the US elections closely like myself. Obama, born to an African Father and an American Mother, a trained lawyer and from Illinois. His dream of becoming the President became closer when he eventually emerged the Democratic Nominee in the 2008 elections after a ferociously contested debate between him and Hillary Clinton to emerge the party’s flag-bearer.

The election eventually came in November of that year and he won, defeating John McCain of the Republican Party to emerge as the 44th President of the United States of America, and the First African American to hold that office. History was made, and the dreams of the likes of Martin Luther King junior eventually came through.Fast forward into 2016, another history has been made in the build up to the US elections. Obama’s Presidency is due to end in some few months’ time, and a new President would be occupying the White House come January, 2017. Hillary Clinton has won the Democratic Nomination to represent her party (Democratic Party) in the November general elections, after defeating Bernie Sanders in the tightly contested primaries.

As a matter of fact, this is the first time in the History of the United States and in the History of the US elections where a woman will get to achieve such fit. Donald Trump; a businessman with little or no experience in politics, rose from nowhere to clinch the Republican ticket to represent the Party in the elections, after a tightly contested primaries with the party big-wigs in the likes of Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, Newt Gingrich and some other huge republican names. Despite all the party and the establishment did to stop Donald Trump from emerging as the party bearer, the delegates who decided the primaries kept on voting for him, until he clinched the required delegates’ number he needed to be the Nominee. In fact, this year’s US primaries election has been full of surprises so far and history upon history being made. Those who had been following closely can attest to this fact.

However, there have been arguments and counter-arguments about how a Hillary Clinton Presidency would look like for the United States of America. I particularly, have also had course to be part of this argument at some point. Her critiques and opponents have in no small measures, came out against her, with dose and dose of antagonism. Her secret email servers and the Benghazi attack are no doubt, the two major dents on her political career; apart from the fact that others have expressed their sentiments that an Hillary Clinton Presidency would further plunge the United States into more and more darkness and economic cluelessness, especially with her insincerity while she was the US Secretary of States, and that she lacks track record in leadership.

But putting sentiments apart, Hillary has held many positions in the past and these positions actually put her at a very good vantage point to lead the nation. She is a trained lawyer, was the former First Lady of Arkansas, former First Lady of the United States of America, a US Senator, former Secretary of States and has served in some other capacities (both in the Public and private settings) that are not mentioned here.Does America need a President like Hillary Clinton at this point in their history? The answer is yes. Let me show why in the following few paragraphs.

Germany and the United Kingdom now have two of the most revered female politicians in the World at the moment. I have no doubt in my mind, that with the level of cooperation and relationship that have existed between these two nations and the United States over the decades, if they would be able to work closely with a President like Donald Trump, if he eventually wins the elections come November. Now, think on the effects that would have on the UK/US/Germany relations in the course of Trump’s Presidency. But think a little bit about Hillary Clinton being in the White House, Theresa May in the UK and Angela Merkel in Germany, what a synergy that would be- isn’t it? These are arguably some of the most powerful nations of the world, if not the most. You can be sure that under these three women, decisions would be made fast- about ISIS, increasing insecurity in Europe and how terrorism can be completely wiped-out fast.

The United States today, is like a big brother to many nations of the world. Her role- being one of the most prosperous nations on earth, with a thriving economy, and an open wide arms to countries all over the world; has put her in this position. Apart from Bhutan, Iran, North Korea, Syria and Taiwan; United States has formal diplomatic relations with most nations of the world. However, some of these nations are being disgruntled with the United States foreign policy under Barack Obama’s Presidency, especially as it directly affects them. For instance, Israel is one of the US’ strongest allies. But Israel has not totally forgiven Barack Obama for going ahead to sign a nuclear deal with the Iranian nation, knowing fully well that Iran has never wished Israel well since day one. The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu believed that the United States should have placed more sanctions on Iran on its quest for Nuclear weapons proliferation, rather than sign a deal. Also, the Russia/US relation has not been pretty over the years, because of Syria. There is also the China/US secret economic feud.

It will take someone like Hillary Clinton to effectively manage these severed relationships because of her vast experience being a former Secretary of State who has been to over 112 different nations of the world strengthening the United States diplomatic ties with these nations. Her proposed foreign policies is unlike that of Donald Trump, who is proposing to build bridges to put people put out of gaining access to the United States instead of mending broken bridges, who is planning to isolate the US from the rest of the World if elected in the forth-coming elections. In my opinion, I think Hillary Clinton will make an outstanding President of the United States America and #IAMWITHHER on this one.
