There is this feeling that immediately surfaces when you are expecting God to come through for you in a particular situation and He didn’t show up. Sometimes, it could be that you are expecting God to heal you from a particular ailment, but He didn’t until you probably ended up in the hospital. Another could be that you needed a job so desperately, and then this interview came up; and you prepared well for it, put your entire trust in God to perfect the rest; but somewhere along the line, He didn’t show up and then, you lost the job. The feeling could really be more devastating when you know you can consult one or two persons, capable of helping to help you secure that job, win that contract, get that promotion to the next level, but you chose not to explore those avenues because you believe God would do it for you, but He didn’t.

Sometimes you get to that point where you begin to question in your mind whether God really exists. You are like, if He truly exists, why won’t He just do something about my situation? Doesn’t He see that these sufferings are too much? When is He going to do something? Unbelievers are getting these things, why is it difficult for children of God to get them? When will my dreams come true? When will He give me a job; when will He do this, when will He do that!

The truth is: it may appear that God disappoints, but He does not. Man’s impatience at times has made it practically impossible for God to act on His behalf. We have so high an expectation, but low in patience. There are times we want to rush God into answering all our requests against his timing and will for our lives. This is why it looks as if God is excellently good at disappointing His children. The first thing we must understand is that, there is time for everything. God has made everything beautiful in his time, says the scriptures in Ecclesiastes 3:11. Every purpose of God concerning you has its time and season of their manifestation. The challenge comes whenever you try to make God or want to force God to make things happen for you at the wrong time.

Look at the example of Israel. They cried to God for a king at the time when they do not need one. They wanted to be like other nations that are being ruled by kings. God’s agenda is to be their king, but they wanted a king they could see and feel and relate with desperately; at the wrong time. There is a fundamental lesson here: don’t let circumstances force God to give to you now, what He has planned to give you in the future. There are times we want something so desperately from God in order to consume it on our own fleshly desires. Israel wanted a king, but they got what an oppressor in Saul.

God doesn’t disappoint us, what you just need is to accept His will for your life. Apostle Paul prayed thrice for a particular weakness to be removed from his flesh, but God’s response was “my grace is sufficient for you” 2Corinthians 12:8-10. Until you get to that point that Apostle Paul described in verse ten of that scripture, then it would still continue to appear to you that God disappoints. Either He answers your prayers or not, either He opens that door you have been knocking or not, either He gives you a job or not, either He heals you of that sickness or not; God still remains God. His grace is always sufficient for you, and in your weakness; His strength is made perfect.

So, rather than complain and pay attention to your disappointment, why not embrace joy in your spirit, giving glory to God. The devil wants you to feel bad and complain. He wants you to deny God because he’s make it look to you that God is not going to come through for you. He almost got Job too to deny God. He said to Job through his wife: “curse God, and die” Job 2:9. But the man wouldn’t just yield to the temptation of the devil. The bible recorded that Job recovered all that he lost, even in multiple folds. But what if he had allowed his problems to becloud his thinking, and then curse God? Job would have died in that state, and probably no one would ever get to read about his inspiring story today.

Don’t be disappointed in God; He will definitely come through for you. 1Peter 5:7 says “cast all your cares upon him, for He cares for you.” All you need do is simply wait on Him, and while waiting, be of good courage and the Lord shall strengthen your earth. When God’s plans for you eventually begins to manifest, you would be glad that you have not chosen to do it your own way, you have not denied or cursed God just as Job didn’t because of a temporary displeasure or setback. His thoughts towards you are good thoughts, and His plan is to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
