Bring Back Our Girls- The Search Continues

Bring Back Our Girls- The Search Continues

It appears the struggle to rescue the remaining Chibok Girls still in the hands of their captors; the dreadful terror group Boko Haram is far from over. The convener of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group, Oby Ezekwesili, has said the Sambisa forest is 18 times as large as Lagos State. This revelation came after her group in collaboration with the Federal government and the Nigerian Air Force embarked on a guided tour of the forest. She wrote via her tweeter handle: “Dreaded Sambisa is massive. 60,000 square kilometers. 18 times the size of Lagos State! All of Lagos is 3,345 square km. #BBOG”.

The Federal government had on numerous occasions claimed that the battle against the dreaded terror group is gradually coming to an end, but with over 190 girls yet to be rescued; this assertion is far from the truth. Mrs. Oby further tweeted: “Capture of Camp Zero in Sambisa is akin to capturing the Capital City of a country. Camp Zero was the Capital SPOT of Boko Haram in Sambisa, Capture of Camp Zero is significant but not cos of its SIZE. It is SIGNIFICANT because it USED TO BE the STRONGHOLD of the enemy in there. So, could OUR #ChibokGirls and other abducted citizens be STILL WITHIN the vast field of Sambisa other than Camp Zero? YES. So, NAF searches on”.

It would be recalled that over 200 girls were abducted in their dormitories in 2014 in Chibok town while preparing to write their final secondary school examinations. Only 21 of them have so far being rescued while the location of the rest is yet to be known. Intelligence experts believes that the girls may still be held within the Sambisa forest while their captors may be using them as human shield to escape the gruesome offensive being daily launched by the Nigerian army. Though, the operations of the sects have been reduced to its minimum, pockets of attacks are still being executed by the group, the latest being the attack on a mosque inside the University of Maiduguri killing innocent people.

The group has since returned from the guided tour of the forest. Ezekwesili confirmed: “WE are doing fine. We returned to Yola after a very full day of learning from NAF & going out with them on a Day Search of Sambisa. #BBOG“. We came. We Learned. Now WE Return. TO STAND!TODEMAND!!#BringBackOurGirlsNowAndAlive! Thankseveryone at @NigAirForce for all WE LEARNED”
