The causes of premature ejaculation are many and complex. If you’re suffering from PE, you must find out what particular cause is making you ejaculate too soon so that you can then choose a cure or method that works for you to alleviate the problem.
First, notice if there is a pattern to your premature ejaculation, such as being too aroused or not really noticing that you’re about to ejaculate. Of course, there are physical problems too, such as aging or disease that could be the main cause for your problem.
Sometimes when men age, the muscles surrounding the prostate (PC muscles) become less elastic and more difficult to control. Since these muscles are responsible for controlling ejaculation, they must be strengthened to restore them to top performance.
Researchers have also linked depression and anxiety with premature ejaculation. Having sexual intercourse with a new partner may be an anxiety factor, and depression because of job or family issues can also affect a man’s ability to control his ejaculation.
Although rare, some cases of premature ejaculation have been linked to infections in the prostate gland or the urethra duct, where semen (and urine) passes to leave the body. Drug addicts and alcoholics are also susceptible to premature ejaculation issues and a number of prescription medications could be responsible.
Guilt is a prominent cause for premature ejaculation. Religion, fear of pregnancy or an STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) may cause guilt that renders a man helpless to control an ejaculation – or cause him to be unable to reach an erection.
Lack of physical activity may have an impact on a man’s ability to control ejaculations. Obesity can be a physical problem as well as mental and should be dealt with by performing physical exercises and controlling meal portions and types of food to lose weight.
If a man has a medical history that includes heart, prostate, blood pressure and or diabetes issues, he should check with a doctor before attempting to solve the problem of premature ejaculation. Eating a large meal at the end of the day and before sexual intercourse should also be avoided as well as drinking too much alcohol, smoking or lack of physical exercise during the day.
Lack of confidence or low self-esteem can be a huge factor in causing a man to ejaculate prematurely, especially if he’s been teased or taunted by a sexual partner in the past. This problem should be discussed openly and detailed with the man’s sex partner.
