The biggest threat to the continuous existence of humanity is not diseases such as Ebola Virus, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria, Cancer; or Poverty or wars – all these appear to be threatening; however, they are mere shadows of the real thing. Our challenge across societies today is our limited perception of the reality. We are so overwhelmed that the only things we see around us are wars, sicknesses, diseases, poverty, poor leadership and the likes; hence, all our efforts are channeled at all we see. The result is clear, we live and work in a mere cycle – face a problem, try to tackle it; the problem goes low, we rest a bit; and it pops up again and we continue like that.
Our experience is like that of a people who are placed in the bathroom, with a mop ping stick to ensure the dryness of the bathroom while the tap is running. Instead of us examining the root cause of the flooding in the bathroom, which is the running tap; over the centuries, we have been working hard and sweating to get our “bathroom” dry. No matter how hard we try or work to keep the bathroom dry, and no matter the number of mopping stick deployed; as long as the tap keeps running; the bathroom will never get dry! Simple!
Corruption is not one of the problems of mankind– Corruption is the ONLY problem; however, because it is a SEED (a very small one), it is not easily discovered or found out. If you can remember, when you were much younger and you used to steal your mother’s money in her pulse or pick a few meats in the pot; were you often caught? I have come to realize that corruption is often so small like a seed, that no matter how hard we try to find it out, it mixes up with the good very easily.
One of the features of a seed is its size and its potency (capacity). Every seed is small; yet, every seed is powerful. A seed can endure anything when buried; but in a short while, it springs up and grows to become wild or great or big.
Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The Kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.
The best you can do against a seed is to prevent it from being buried: for every buried seed must one day become a big and large tree – even if you hate it! If all you can do against any seed is to prevent it from being sown; it is therefore important that you know the soil or ground that seeds grow in. The heart of any man or woman is like a fertile soil – anything that is planted or buried in it can grow. And as you know, once a seed is buried or sown; nothing about it is known again, until the time it sprouts out of the soil and continues to grow to become almost unstoppable.
The problems of our societies may appear many; but they are all FRUITS of one tree, which is from one SEED called CORRUPTION. It is the Seed of Corruption that grows to become a FRUIT TREE, from which all evils are plucked on a daily basis. A drunkard did not start as a drunkard; neither did a corrupt politician begin like that – even a covetous civil servant did not start in that manner or magnitude. All evil acts of men develop over the years in their hearts when the Seed of Corruption was sown in them.
One thing about the evils that we see today is that they are self-reproduced. Each act of corruption reproduces its kind. Therefore, when a corrupt politician is removed from office, the corruption is reproduced in the hearts of the successors. The solution is therefore not in a mere removal of the evil person from the place or people; but in a total transformation of the hearts of all the people.
Then God said, “Let the earth (ground, soil – “heart”) bring forth grass, herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth;” and it was so.
Every act of corruption has the seed of corruption in itself; if all you do is to cut off the act; the seed will spring up again. If you therefore desire a solution; you need to fight the seed of corruption, which settles on the hearts of the people through what they see and hear, with another SEED – called, the Incorruptible SEED – the word of God!
Since you have purified your souls (hearts)in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, lone one another fervently with a PURE HEART, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.
1 Peter 1:22-23
Until your heart is renewed through an inner rebirth of your soul, and a new seed is sown daily on your renewed heart, even if you hate to steal, lie, fornicate, kill, curse, drink, covet, slander, cheat, backbite or embezzle public or corporate fund; you will not be able to help yourself. Many people today are addicted to many things that are even disgusting to them; yet, they lack the INNER WILL and STRENGTH to stop them. The truth is, you cannot stop a seed of corruption like that; you will require a greater seed to fight the seed of corruption – you will require to fight corruption with incorruption – let the word of God daily settle on the fertile and expectant soil of your heat; and your life will never be the same again. Give it a trial this week; ask the Lord Jesus to create a new heart in you, and promise to learn from Him daily: For He alone can purge your heart of the seed of corruption; replacing it with the seed of incorruption for your great exploits on the earth.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove (know) what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
