Street Foods that Dehradun’s Locals Swear by

Dehradun, a prevalent tourist destination and capital of Uttarakhand, is a beautiful city with charming atmosphere. People from all across the nation visit this spot amid their summer vacations. The Malsi Deer Park, Tapkeshwar sanctuary and Mindrolling monastery are some of the tourist destinations that are well known. But the most fascinating part of any outing is likely the food, and Dehradun offers you an assortment of alternatives from North Indian to real Tibetan rarities. Ready, set, hog!

The various places to visit in Dehradun can wait, but the food, definitely can’t! We all live and love to eat, and for Indians, food is no less than a religion. So drop everything you’re doing, and head out to these stunning food spots in Dehradun that will lull your taste buds in hammock of sheer bliss. Here you go--

1. Chilli Momos of Kalsang

This Dehradun branch of Kalsang is more spacious and brilliant than the other branches around. The administration is warm, quick and so is the ambience here, however, the food is the main highlight of this spot. Kalsang is a real Chinese and Tibetan food joint, and practically all that it brings to the table is lip-smacking treats, from thenthuk to thukpa, from soft Tibetan buns to the fruit beer. However, the stew momos are the best! Served in a thick, zesty sauce with bell pepper and shallots, the tender momos are simply heavenly. Try not to leave Dehradun without trying them.

2. Bun Tikki at Dwarka Store Chowk

People in Dehradun love Bun Tikkis and the best Bun Tikki is served at Bun Tikki Wala, which is situated at Dwarka Store Chowk. This Bun Tikki stall is Dehradun's oldest kiosk and is well known among local people.

3. Vegetable Sandwich at The Buffet Snacks Shop

The Buffet Snacks Shop serves an assortment of snacks, for example, bhajjiya, vada pav, vegetable burgers, and the vegetable sandwich, which is the quickest moving item of this place. Request for a sandwich after 6:00 pm, and you'll be advised to come the following day! This is a decent sign for fast food joints, since it guarantees fresh food consistently. These sandwiches taste awesome, and are ideal for a quick snack. In case you're crossing the Rajpur Road enroute Mussoorie, stop for five minutes and get a sandwich. You'll be grateful later.

4. Rasmalai of Kumar Sweets

After a hearty meal, who minds a good dig in a bowl of dessert, right? If you too have some sugar cravings, then simply head to Kumar Sweets for some delectable rasmalai served in little earthen pots. The delicate rasmalai with few strands of saffron is not to be missed. This spot is paradise for individuals with a sweet tooth. Every sweet is mouth-watering. You can also try some of the exquisite snacks offered by the shop.

5. The Poori Thali of Chetan Poori Wala

This is the genuine street food experience in Dehradun. Believe it or not, Chetan Poori Wala has the best poories, which are presented with choley, aloo subzi, and one seasonal Indian dish. This local joint is flooded with people for breakfast, during lunch hours, and even during the evenings, so be prepared to wait for some time — however rest guaranteed, it's justified, despite all the trouble. What's more, there are free refills for everything apart from poories!

So get a Gurgaon to Dehradun taxi, and once you reach the city of Dehradun, make sure you visit these food havens, or else, you’d be missing on quite a lot!
