The quest of becoming great, achieving great things, reach great heights is the most prevalent in our societies. In some clans in Nigeria and most other nations; it is common to hear people say, "We don't come last in my place". The truth is, there is usually a strong desire in the heart of every man or woman to want to become something or someone in life. However, if wishes were horses, beggers would ride. The reality is real, but the truth remains.I have come to realize that no MAN on earth can solely choose to become great or choose to follow a given path in life.
I am sure that you may not be very comfortable with that; but the truth must be told. What really happen is that, each man CHOOSES his or her lord; while the lord chooses the manner, path, style, degree and dimension of life the man lives. You see, you and I can only make choices; but ultimately, our choices make or mar us.Your decision to accept a person as your lord is the only choice you have been given the authority to make; usually, it is your lord thatmakes the remaining choices for you. Come to think of it, if you travel to a far countryside and you need an accommodation, you would need to rent an apartment for the time of your stay.
Although, there may be many houses in the area with many lords; your decision to walk up a a house owner for your rent is the ONLY choice you have to make. Once you become a tenant in that house; that woman or man assumes the position of a landlord or landlady over you. He or she holds the full authority over the style, extent or nature of your stay in that arear. You choose your landlord; but your landlord chooses how you stay in his house. You choose your landlady; but she chooses the time you must return back to house daily.Knowing that Jesus is Lord is not a small matter....For most men of "sound mind" usually detest the truth about His Lordship. Even the Scriptures says in the book of 1 Corinthians 12 that no can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.
In short, every man or man would require the filling up of the Holy Spirit to realize that Jesus is not just the Saviour of the world, He is the Lord of my own life. It might be easy for you to accept that God sent Jesus to save the whole world; but a bit difficult for you to realize that He is your Owner and Master. If you then know that Jesus is Lord...If the Holy Spirithelps your understanding; you must ensure that you take a step further to accept Him as your own Lord. The implication is that, you accept Him as the ONLY One who has the power, authority and the will to MAKE you - GREAT, FULFILLED, WISE, POWERFUL, STRONG, RICH, BLESSED, etc.
Jesus is not your Lord for the sake of of lording it over you; He is your Lord because He desires to MAKE you BIGGER, BETTER, and WISER. Your life can be better, you ONLY need a new lord. The direction that your life FOLLOWS is not your making; it is your Lord that makes it so. If Jesus is your Lord, your life will follow Him. Therefore, the first test of the Lordship of Jesus over you is the semblanceof your life with His.Discipleship is described as the process of following a teacher or master's doctrine or principles. Therefore, the ONLY proof of your acceptance of Jesus as the Lord is your followership of Him, His word, His instructions. Jesus cannot be your Lord and the last thing you want to do is your OWN will....Because the life of the person is the exclusive right and property of his or her owner.
If Jesus is your Lord, then He owns you. If you only FOLLOW the inner desire to drink alchohols even when you do not want to; then, the alchohol is your lord. You are indeed a slave to whomsoever you obey...you choose to obey anyone....but your life becomes like the one you obey and follow. Following Jesus is therefore not an haphazard activity; but the product of being under the influence of Jesus.. Discipleship therefore not a religious activity or programme; but a Kingdom lifestyle of following the Lord Jesus Christ, towards being MADE by Him.
