The war against insurgency in Nigeria is appearing far from being over. The deadly group called Boko Haram have so much sphere of influence to the extent that the leader of the dreaded group by the name Shekau now appears in videos wit an armored tank at his back. One would keep wondering, how did he come across owning one?
It's been 33 days now since over 200 young girls were kidnapped in their dormitories in small village called Chibok in Borno state, Nigeria. This single incident really took the activities of the sects to a wider global scene as world leaders rose up in their numbers to condemn the kidnap and urge the Nigerian government to rise up and do something to rescue the kidnapped girls from the hands of their abductors. But how far has the Nigerian government faired so far in their response to rescue these young girls?
First, it took two whole weeks for the President/Presidency to set up a committee to really verified and look into the matter. Two weeks; one would be tempted to ask, what was the government doing since the day one the incident was first reported. Is it that the presidency was hoping that the girls were not missing or it was a political propaganda? Two weeks is enough for an abductor to do whatever he/she wants with his/her abductee. This shows nothing but cluelessness on the part of the President.
The ill-fed, ill-motivated Nigerian soldiers engaging the sects and frustrating some of their activities are being killed on daily basis. The reason being that the Nigerian soldiers are ill-equipped. There are cases in which weapons in the hands of the Boko haram sects are of more sophistication than what the soldiers are carrying. Even the president in the last media chat attest to this facts that soldiers are not well equipped and are not motivated. This brings us to the question, what about the trilions of naira being allocated to security and defence in the past years?
Now, it's been over a month and the girls are still in the camps of their abductors. Who can possibly imagine the agony and all manners of torture and pains that those girls are being subjected to? Let us face the fact, if David Mark's daughter or Jonathan's daughter happened to have one of their own amongst those girls, would the presidency not empty its resources until the girls are rescued? Would Jonathan be sleeping or Patience screaming.."Na only you waka come", prinspa, chai, dia is God oo, the bloods we are sharing boronu" on national TV and decieving her self with her shameful political-motivated cries? Hmn, chai...chai.., Patience, dia is God oo.
At this point, the Whole World is watching Nigeria and the numerous failures of our leaders. All eyes are on this current administration of Goodluck Jonathan. We would all see how goodluck and patience would bring back our missing girls. While countries like US, China, France and the United Kindgdom have sent their helps and mercinaries, our own Government under Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan have commended us and the return of the missing girls into the hands of God. Finally, we can only hope that only God, and the supports of these countries will help #BringBackOurGirls.
