Addressing the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is one dream every first-timer President, no matter where you are from in the World, always longs to fulfill. As a matter of fact, what qualifies you to address this assembly of world leaders is by virtue of your country being a member of the United Nations, and your government must be the type that is popular back home (not the type that you hijacked by a Military coup d’état or something related to that) in whatever form. So, one can boldly say that it is President Buhari's long-term ambition that just came to fruition by addressing the UN general assembly this year- what he was not privileged to do as a Military head of state back then in the 80s. There was no time to waste time, President Muhammadu Buhari addressed world leaders on a number of issues, including;climate change which has had tremendous effect on Nigeria, the need to rescue the #ChibokGirls alive and unhurt and other important issues. The President also quickly bonded with the Former President of the United States, Bill Clinton, and one of the World’s foremost Billionaires, Bill Gates.

But a number of things have been put forward as been wrong with the President’s UNGA visit.  First is the purported sitting position of Dr. KayodeFayemi, the immediate past governor of Ekiti State and the President himself. Observers have argued that Fayemi (who is neither a minister in the cabinet of Mr. President, nor a special adviser to him on United Nations matters as it were) shouldn’t be sitting next to President Muhammadu Buhari in such a manner. Why some have argued that Professor Joy Ogwu (Nigerian Permanent representative to the United Nations) should have been the one occupying where Kayode Fayemi was actually sitting, others have said that there was nothing wrong with the sitting position as Dr. Kayode Fayemi himself is a potential Foreign Affairs Minister in the coming Buhari cabinet. Whether this will be the case or not, time would tell. In a matter of days, the Ministerial list would be made public. I can only hope the former Ekiti state democrat made it.

The truth is told at this point in time, how can the President miss a meeting that was schedule on Boko Haram? Was the President taking selfies with his media guys and totally forgot that meetings like that should have been a priority? Honestly, I don’t understand. It seems someone didn’t give Mr. President a proper orientation before leaving Nigeria as to how UNGA is being organized. Really, did GarbaShehu just say the meeting wasn’t part of the President’s itinerary? I can’t believe this anyway. It seems President Jonathan and Reuben Abbati didn’t do a proper orientation for these guys. Mr. President promised he was going to end BokoHaram in just three months into his administration, this is almost five months, the war is far from being over, and the President is there missing meetings organized for the same purpose. We should not put the blame on Prof. Joy Ogwu for not prepping the President well, let us blame the devil. Anyway, I want to believe he didn’t miss the other one on “Global Counterterrorism Forum” by the US Department of States co-hosted by John Kerry.

------ You people want to crucify for missing a meeting. After all, i sha didn’t go to drink. Please forgive me.

I want to believe Mr. President deliberately went late to that Pope’s meeting simply because he knows that shaking the Pope would not solve the numerous problems Nigeria is facing. How can meeting the pope helps the President to put together his cabinet between now and September 30^th as he promised, or prevents Nigeria from sliding into a recession comes 2016 as predicted by Godwin Emefiele (The CBN governor). Come to think of it, the President was unable to attend the meeting concerning BokoHaram and IDPs, how come the meeting with the Pope is that important? The Pope’s message to world leaders no doubt was a good one though. His message cuts across a wide range of issues from how extreme poverty can be eliminated and how poor people can be empowered to achieve their own destiny, nuclear weapons, wars and conflicts and how it affects powerless people. Well, the Pope may visit Africa soon and now that our President did not have the privilege of a handshake, Nigeria may not be on the Pope’s agenda when he eventually visits Africa.

Alright, I think the President should come give us that Ministerial list now. Enough of this lone-ranger thing that Mr. President is doing here and there, even Jesus Christ had twelve disciples as powerful as he was on earth. The last time I checked, I do not see where the constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria stated where you can run a democracy in a dictatorial style. The laws of the land allow and mandate you to have a cabinet. Two things may happen by September 30^th if the President failed to roll out his Ministers as promised. One of them is the fact that the President will no longer be a man of his words, and because of that lose a number of popularity even with the people who voted him into power. The second thing is that should the names of the ministers be made public on or before 30^th September, some tensions in some corners of the said list would be doused and the nation can then move forward in peace.

------ Never mind Mr. President, the list would be out as promised.

This is the long and short of the story I have been trying to put across since the beginning. There is nothing you can do as a Nigerian President that can satisfy this populace. If you ‘fart’ in public, they will crucify you. If peradventure God helped you and the fart didn’t smell, they would say, why did it not smell? That is the Nigeria we have today, you cannot seem to just please everybody, not in this world now, and the one that would probably come.
